Billericay is a historic market town within the borough of Basildon in Essex, roughly 25 miles east of London. It combines a village-like high street of Georgian and Victorian buildings with the practicalities of a commuter town - regular train services to London Liverpool Street mean many residents work in the capital while enjoying more space and quieter streets.
The town is known for its green lungs such as Norsey Wood, an ancient woodland, and Lake Meadows, a park that hosts community events and festivals. Culturally it has a strong local identity, with independent shops, pubs and societies that reflect its long history and a generally affluent, family-oriented population balancing heritage with modern life.
