Elmstead Market is a small village in the district of Tendring, in the county of Essex in the east of England. Set in a patchwork of arable farmland and hedgerow, it grew up around a historic market (hence the name) and remains a compact community a short drive and bus ride from nearby towns - roughly seven miles from Colchester.
Today the village combines rural character with everyday amenities: local shops, a primary school, a village hall and at least one pub, while agriculture and small businesses still shape the local economy. Many residents commute to larger centres for work, but there’s a steady village social life with clubs, church activities and occasional local events that reflect its long-standing, community-focused character.
