Scholes is a small village to the east of Leeds in West Yorkshire, forming one half of the civil parish of Barwick-in-Elmet and Scholes. It sits a few miles from Leeds city centre and the surrounding countryside, so while many residents commute into the city it still keeps a distinctly rural, village feel.
Historically agricultural, the settlement today mixes stone cottages, a primary school, a village hall and a couple of pubs and local shops, and hosts community events and walking routes that help sustain local life. The result is a quiet, characterful place that combines historic charm with practical links into Leeds and the wider region.
