Cassop-cum-Quarrington is a small civil parish in County Durham, a few miles south‑east of Durham. It includes the former mining villages of Cassop and Quarrington Hill set in a landscape of rolling farmland and areas of reclaimed colliery land.
Historically shaped by coal mining, the parish still carries that industrial heritage in its housing and landscape, but today it has a quieter, semi‑rural character with active village halls, churches and community groups; many residents now commute to nearby centres for work while local footpaths and green corridors are popular with walkers.
