Eastry is a compact village and civil parish in the district of Dover, Kent, in south‑east England, a few miles inland from the coast between Sandwich and Deal. It sits on the gentle chalk hills of the Kent Downs with views across the Stour valley towards the North Sea, surrounded by farmland and popular for countryside walks.
The village has a long history as an Anglo‑Saxon royal centre and later medieval settlement, with a historic parish church and a number of timber‑framed houses that reflect its past; it was also recorded in the Domesday survey. Nowadays Eastry combines village amenities - a school, pubs and community groups - with a largely commuter and agricultural economy, while nearby 19th–20th century mining and local industries have left their social imprint on the area.
