Heswall is a suburban town on the western side of the Wirral peninsula in England, perched above the Dee Estuary with long views across to North Wales and, on clear days, the peaks of Snowdonia. Its position on higher ground gives it a partly rural feel despite being close to larger urban centres, and there are several nearby green spaces such as Caldy Hill and the heathland of Heswall Dales.
Traditionally a small agricultural settlement that expanded with improved transport links in the 19th and 20th centuries, Heswall today is a fairly affluent commuter town within the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, popular with families and retirees who travel to Liverpool or Chester. Its centre has independent shops, cafes and a mix of Victorian and Edwardian houses, while local history and community life remain evident around the parish church and conservation areas.
