Overton is a large village and civil parish in the borough of Basingstoke and Deane in Hampshire, England, set in the valley of the chalk-stream River Test. The village retains an attractive centre of period houses, a historic parish church and a conservation feel, with former watercress beds and riverside meadows reflecting its riverside setting and rural character.
Despite its village scale, Overton has good transport links – a local railway station provides regular services towards Basingstoke and London – so many residents commute while village life is sustained by small shops, pubs, clubs and regular community events. The combination of scenic river walks, local heritage and an active community gives it a strong village identity within the wider Hampshire countryside.
