Waterhouses is a small village in the district of Staffordshire Moorlands in Staffordshire, England, located close to the southern edge of the Peak District National Park. It sits in the limestone country around the River Hamps and the nearby Manifold valley, giving easy access to gritstone edges, caves and rolling moorland that attract walkers and climbers.
Historically a farming community that expanded with the arrival of the light railway in the early 20th century, the village now serves as a low‑key outdoor hub for walkers and cyclists using the traffic‑free Manifold Way (the former Leek and Manifold Light Railway). Local life is centred on small businesses, a couple of pubs and village facilities, and the economy mixes agriculture with tourism drawn by the dramatic local scenery and quiet rural character.
